A live online session for speakers, authors, coaches, consultants and anyone whose business depends on important conversations.
They Loved You.
Nobody Booked You.
Almost all speaker training works on your next talk. This works on your last one.
Wednesday, August 12 · 7:00 PM Eastern (4:00 PM Pacific) · Live Online · No Replay Planned
Alex the Sherpa reviews your real presentations and business conversations. It finds the moments and patterns you could not see while you were in them. Then it helps you prepare, follow up, and handle the next one better.
Think about the conversations that bothered you afterwards.
- The talk that landed and sold nothing.
- The call that felt warm until it went quiet.
Usually the conversation stopped moving well before anyone said no, and the clues to what happened are still sitting there in the recording.
This one is for a specific person.
- The room was warm, the feedback was glowing, and the calendar stayed empty.
- The call went well. They said all the right things. You put it in the likely column, and then it went quiet.
- You work out what you should have said roughly ten minutes after the chance to say it.
- You have had plenty of feedback on how you come across. Far less on what actually happened inside the conversation.
If two of those landed, you already know what Wednesday is for.
Praise is real. It isn't proof.
Three things get taught on Wednesday. You cannot see any of them from where you are standing:
- Why a room can love a talk and repeat back almost none of it, and what that quietly costs you at the back of the room.
- Where a good conversation quietly turns into a presentation. They told you what mattered. You were busy explaining, so it went past you.
- How a warm meeting ends with no next step, no decision maker named, and a follow-up that summarises the conversation instead of moving it.
There is rarely one clean moment that decided everything. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you the illusion of certainty. What there usually is, is the moment that mattered most, or a pattern that keeps repeating. Most people miss it because they are too close to it. Once you can see it, you can work on it. And once somebody points it out to you, it is very hard to unsee.
And this is not only about getting booked. It is about what you sell from the stage, and which conversations turn into clients, referrals and partnerships instead of quietly ending.
You'll watch it happen live.
I am putting one real presentation and one real business conversation on screen and taking them apart in front of you.
Not disasters. Both of them felt like they went well to the person who was in them, and that is deliberate. Everybody can already see what went wrong in the talk that bombed.
This is not about tearing your performance apart. We are looking for the moment that mattered most, or a pattern that kept repeating, and what you could have done differently right there, at the time. A better report is not the point. A better next conversation is, so what the analysis finds goes straight into how you prepare, what you send afterwards, and what you rehearse before you walk in.
You will leave knowing what to look for in your own presentations, booking calls and follow-up.
This works alongside the coaching and training you already have, or already deliver. It gives you a way to use it on the real conversations happening in between.

Who's hosting

Dannella Burnett
Host
Dannella Burnett works with speakers, authors and coaches who build businesses from the stage and through the conversations that follow it. She is hosting this session because what happens in the conversations after the room clears is the half almost nobody works on.

Ken Krell
Creator of Alex the Sherpa
Ken came up in mortgage sales before he ever stood on a stage. One presentation of his produced sixty sales calls. He closed zero. He went back afterwards and watched the recordings looking for the place the outcome changed. The problem was not obvious. The calls sounded good. The prospects were engaged. And sixty conversations still produced zero sales. That question became Alex the Sherpa.
One thing I am going to ask you for.
Once you register I am going to ask you for a real conversation of your own. A recording or a transcript, rough is fine. Anything that felt like it went well and then went nowhere. Two of them come on screen on Wednesday night.
If yours is one of them, you get to see the moment that mattered most, or the pattern you could not see from inside it, and what was available to do instead.
I will also spend real time on what you do and who you do it for, because the work makes no sense without it. If I choose yours, you get to watch your own work examined from the outside. That is the one seat you cannot sit in while it is happening.
And I am actually there. You can ask me anything, for as long as the questions keep coming. I will be joining from Edinburgh at midnight, and I will stay as long as the questions are useful.
Bring a real conversation. Leave seeing it differently.
One more thing, and it is only for the people who are actually there.
Everyone who attends live gets instructions for submitting one presentation or conversation for a private write-up. The same work you will have just watched me do on screen, done properly on your material, for you alone.
That is not a bonus in the promotional sense of the word. It is the thing itself, pointed at you instead of at somebody else. If you have a talk that landed and sold nothing, or a call that went warm and then went quiet, that is what it is for.
I will explain how to claim yours on Wednesday night.
